Hey there Alex - We're considering trying a giveaway for our blog, and I remembered this post and came back to it.

I know you mentioned that the competition subscribers are less engaged, which makes total sense - Did you segment them in a way that works out how less engaged? I'm wondering where the tipping point might be - If you spend $200 on your competition and get 1500 subs, of which only 10% are quality leads, is it worth it?

Hi Alex! Great post - and I always find myself coming back to it. I'm currently working on my own subscriber workflow... However, I want to be able to track blog subscriber retention rate before and after it's been implemented (probably after a 30-day timeframe as well). How in the world did you calculate blog subscriber retention rate?

Heya Alex, great post. Being in an early growth stage SaaS startup, your blog posts shine light on some specific pain points and your approach.

Coming to segmentation, in your case did you keep it simple as in - customers and non customers? What other factors did you consider to segment any email subscriber you got through website/blog?

Hey Alex,

You write "One important note here: we use cookies to ensure that if a visitor signs up, or clicks “Read The Blog”, then they won’t see this signup page again. It’s important to us not to create unnecessary burdens on our readers."

Well, I can see this form and I have to click "Read the blog" every time I come here.
And I've got no extension or browser rules to delete cookies.

So are you sure that this works?
Or do you think that the form should be seen at every visit?

Hey Alex,

with my blog (www.affenblog.de) I'm currently at 10.000 subscribers. Now I'm thinking on how I reach the next big milestone - 50.000 subscribers.

So your post comes very handy!

I have the same experience with content - some pieces are really awesome. And a lot aren't! :D

The biggest takeaway for me were the testimonials on the homepage. A really simple homepage (e.g. without the latest posts) works great. I also have some banners there. But testimonials, that's something I'll test. Thanks a lot!

Cheers

Awesome info and thank you for including all of the programs/businesses you use to implement these tactics.

I did notice that you did not state who/what you use to create the scroll-up box. Is that something you built in house or was that just forgotten?

Thanks for all the amazing info (from this post and every other one too) and I look forward to implement many things as I start to build my business.

I think you owe a bit more thanks to Neil Patel? http://neilpatel.com/blog/

That "Redesigned Blog Homepage" headline a basic rip from his blog. It's good, but at least switch it up. It's just weird seeing the same copy across both blogs.
