David - you are truly an inspiration, and you are one of the strongest executors I have ever been able to work with. My question to you is: what were the titles of the people on your Senior Management team when you were acquired by Citrix, and What were the titles of the people in your Senior Management team when you were between $5m and $10m? Just trying to get a handle on what roles you had on your leadership team at the various phases of your journey. Miss ya bud. Congrats on Everything!

Excellent interview.

David, I was particularly interested to see your comments around the importance of advertising, the 'it just works' piece, which is almost counter-cultural today in the vogue for all things social media (albeit I'm making this comment on an excellent blog I follow that I learned about on Twitter!).

It's not really a question, but more a word of thanks for that - having worked in an online advertising business, I know that to be very true, and one us startups can learn from.

Congrats on the acquisition.

Thanks David for sharing your experiences. I specially liked the way you talked about paid advertising when everyone else is advising to avoid it.

With AdWords, we can target specific demographics but in case of Radio or other paid mediums, how do you achieve that?

Thanks in advance.

Amazing read, and inspirational story. David, you managed to bootstrap and scale the business. Were you ever worried of competitors zooming past you because they had taken funding from VCs? Our startup thirdshelf.com is in a very hot space, and while we feel we could grow the company with no outside money, we're debating taking outside money for acceleration.

I’ve been following Grasshopper for years, and I have to
admit, I’m just an absolute huge fan of David and Siamak. If you market SaaS of
any kind, study Grasshopper. Congrats on the acquisition!

I'll take this opportunity to first congratulate you on your impressive achievement.

And next I would like to know how you validated your idea at the very beginning. And how you found your very first client, the second and the third ones.

I got how you scaled but how did you start? How were your first few months?

Thank you for sharing.

Another great post from Alex, many thanks.

David - We've grown our business www.escapethecity.org to 14 people and as founders we feel like we're having to step out of the detail of our product to allow the individuals in our team to grow.

I'm navigating out of product management and into a CEO type role. Any advice on what has worked and what hasn't when working in a CEO capacity? Did you have to have the same change in role/mindset? What makes a great CEO? Would love any perspectives. p.s. we're a Grasshopper customer, thanks for a great product!
