Great post! Product Hunt has a ton of room to grow in my opinion which is extremely exciting!

My 1st Question is: Would you ever consider selling the company and building something else?

2nd Question: Are you going to be looking into promoting physical products from "big brands" anytime down the track? I can imagine you'd already have a ton of interest in that kind of hitting the 'Kickstarter' audience too.

Great interview, awesome community and really inspiring personality :)

A question for Ryan about PH and unreleased products. FAQ says an unreleased product could be acceptable if it provides thorough information about the product. Is it stated to be nice with all "we eager to put our product on PH"? Or is it really possible to arouse the community curiosity just by showing a demo video? No need to say that being on PH becomes really useful when one receives feedfack :)

Ps: I sometimes feel completely invincible and capable of the most crazy things ... An email was sent to your inbox during one of those times. Aaaaand it's gone. Oops :)

Awesome interview. Nice to see the combination of two dynamic people from the startup world. This is so minor I debated even bringing it up, but it confused me at first and might confuse other readers - the part where Ryan is talking about revenue and I think saying they are not focusing on revenue, the quote actually says he is focusing on revenue: "we’ve consciously made the decision to focus on revenue right now" Is that a typo maybe? Thanks again for the great post. Always a helpful read!

Thanks for a great interview, Alex. Great motivation built right into it :) + Loved the way Ryan answered and presented his perspectives. What's Interesting is PH has become such an everyday thing in the tech scene that we have PH at the top of our list for IRememba once it goes to Private Beta. Thanks for sharing Nir's blog - Looks interesting upon a quick review, will definitely check it out in more details later.

Question for Alex/Ryan: IRememba (a B2C platform to Privately share, protect and preserve your Family Memories and Stories + Leave your Legacy through Time Capsules) is currently in Early Access request phase, with Private Beta tentatively scheduled for April/2016. I got some decent signups via personal contacts and Betalist. I'm trying to brainstorm how to communicate best with the Signup list in order to build a "Focus Group" of people who would really love to engage and provide more feedback in order to get a better MVP out for Private and eventually public Beta. So far the signup list gets a "Welcome E-mail" on Day 1 and on Day 5 a "Request to share" e-mail with instructions on how to check their position in waitlist. I have 1 Blog Post which talk about Our Story, www.irememba.com/our-story, that goes out as a link in Welcome E-mail. I've been exploring ideas for Blog Posts + Engagement E-mails + User Behavior Surveys (much like your e-mail to Ben example). Any ideas/tips would be awesome?

Once again, Thanks Ryan for taking time answering my question and Alex, for another gem of a post. Cheers!

Hey Ryan,

Congrats on PH's success so far! Two quick questions-

1. How do you decide what changes to make to PH (e.g. adding things like Books, Podcasts, PH Live)? Is there a long period of customer development interviews & user testing before features make it into the pipeline? Or is it more of a "build it quickly and see if it works" approach?

2. How many hours/day do you spend on Twitter/Facebook/other social media? Obviously community engagement is pretty important for PH, but I'm constantly surprised by how active you are, considering how busy you must be with everything else.

Thanks!

Awesome interview and what a great path Ryan, really inspiring! Quick question, for your initial growth, which connections did you find more important: the "few dozen founders, investors, and startup folks" you knew or posting to the entrepreneurs on "Twitter and Quibb"? I assume having people with reach and influence was important, but which group was more important? or were you not even thinking about that at all?
