Hey Len,

Great post - I came back and read this for the second time as we're growing and I'm starting to think about doing the leg-work for when we bring on our first FT customer service hire soon.

Our business is a little more technical than most - we teach our users to data science which includes a fair bit of coding, so we're looking for someone who is not only an amazing and empathetic support pro, but also understands basic to intermediate coding so they can both troubleshoot and help users with learning issues.

Do you have any tips/thoughts on how to find someone that ticks both boxes?

Interesting post, but sometimes I still don't understand some companies. It's so easy to start with some good customer care practices but actually I see a lot of companies that are putting their best effort to let their customers run away.

I think this is a great refresher even if you already have support people. I'm in hiring mode right now, so I'm going to use this as a reference once I start replying to applicants. Thanks!
