Hey! Thanx, A LOT for answering my Q about outsourcing! I am really flattered! I now remember that did read the post about agency outsourcing... But now, I wonder if you ever considered an option of offshore outsourcing? I think it could have been a third option after hiring developers and outsourcing to an american agency. I think offshore outsourcing would have been much much cheaper. Have you ever considered such an option?

Hi Alex, great post, always valuable information. In your post from yesterday you mention that your first hires should be marketing and customer development apart from developers. I recently launched Photonube and now I'm focusing on marketing, if you were back on day 1 with groove, would you change something about how you'd do to get customers and improve the product? Thanks!

Hi Alex,

In one of your early blog posts you talked about how you wasted $50k building a huge website for the launch of Groove: https://www.groovehq.com/blog/early-fails

After you launched you noted that you only had a 2% conversion rate and
stated: “looking at our metrics and visitor behavior, the only way out of this
mess would be to abandon five months of painstaking (and painfully expensive)
work.”

You then pulled down your robust website and popped up a simple one.

I have a few questions for you:

1. Other than conversion rate, what metrics/user behavior did you look at to come to your conclusions?

2. What analytical tools did you use?

3. Did you even have enough website traffic when you launched to make sound analytical conclusions? And if you did have enough website traffic at launch, how did you get it?

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions. Huge fan of Groove and your work!
