Thanks for the post! I'm a user of wheniwork, but I'm tired struggling with you guys. SupportYourApp provides customer support outsourced and we have shifts for agents. So we have been using wheniwork, both attendance + scheduling, for almost one year, but it has many bugs :( Last but not least, you had an offer with a free t-shirt around 6 months ago, I'm still waiting.

Anyway, great idea! Good luck.

Great interview and thanks for sharing so much, Chad.

I see more and more services firms bootstrapping their own product(s) down the line (something I hope to do too!)

In the meantime, though, can you share with me any sales/advertising/marketing tips that worked for you to help grow your services firm beyond word of mouth in order to land consistent work month after month?

Chad -

Thank you for sharing your experience with us all and for being so open about the processes you tried to get those first very important customers. At Posto, we are 4 months in, know we have a very compelling product and are just starting to get those very first customers on board - so investing in lots of different acquisition strategies (including content marketing Alex :)

One question I had was around your email marketing process that helped you early on. A lot has changed since you employed this strategy, but we are curious what tools you used for sending bulk email and where you obtained your lists (if you think this is still a viable source).

Congrats again on the growth and look forward to hearing any potential feedback you would be willing to share.

All the best

Excellent post Alex and very wise answers from Chad. Qs for Chad: Talking about very early stages in your startup, at What stage did you raise your First Funding? What all you had in hand and what was the plan on how to use that money? How did you go about finding the right Investors?

Thanks much for your time answering. Wish you the best. Cheers!

Chad, great information. Thank you for sharing. My question:

What are your suggestions for a successful on-boarding experience? Does When I Work require users to import mass amounts of data/information at the beginning, or do they do it as they go? Is it something they do on their own or do they receive assistance from an employee or through a wizard?

If getting users to import their information is a problem for a company, what would you suggest in order to improve?

Thanks, Chad!

You mentioned that you have a test for everyone you hire. What are the two questions you ask them?

You can't drop potential gold dust like that and then keep them quiet! :-)

I would like to know if you were to start over today without a budget would you do it like you did the first time or is there other things that you think might work better?

Alex,

Awesome post as always!

Question for you Chad:

Is there anything in specific that you have found to be especially helpful when training your employees for customer service?

We have a similar philosophy about customer service and firmly believe our revenues come directly from our front line customer service.

Maybe there are some unique tactics you guys use in training that helps employees really latch on the culture you are trying to create?

Thanks!
