Hey Alex, Thank you so much for this.
Here we're working in a very similar way, but a saw a possible bug.

If you always ask to talk in the beginning of users life time, may you talk with customers in a very particular situation?

I ask that because a feel that users journey may affect the things that you will talk with than. For example, at this point they didn't find a bug or open an support issue yet. (maybe had opened but not waiting for a long time).

Thanks.

A great post - I'm really benefiting from using your old posts as a reference guide. Just started doing some customer development and there's a lot to learn from your process, particularly the tone of your emails. Thanks!

Great article Alex, thanks for sharing your process! Would love to hear your thoughts on if/how you'd approach this differently in a pre-launch situation.

I'm relatively new to your blog, but I've been an avid reader recently making my way through the archives. Awesome work!

Hey Alex,

I published a digital product a while back and did exactly the opposite. I didn't talk to a single person before or during development. The product is currently ranked #1 on Google for a couple of searches, but the success wasn't exactly overwhelming.

Well, I'm back at it. This time I'll be building a SaaS product and I want to do it right. I'm going to be doing customer development for some time before I write a single line of code because the truth is that I'm not sure what customers want out of the product I'm build (project management software, if you were wondering).

With that said, do you have any advice on how you approach would change if you were doing this before Groove's product existed? Anything that comes to mind would be highly appreciated!

P.S. I always get excited when a new post from Groove shows up in my inbox! Such amazing and actionable advice every single time.

Happy Wednesday!
