Hey Alex,

I've been incredibly impressed with you and this blog and how you've executed on it. I'm about to embark on a similar blogging journey, and so I've been studying everything you've been doing here. I noticed you forewent using Wordpress for this blog, and instead opted to build your own (at least that's what it looks like from the headers). I'm a nerd at heart, so the allure of building our own system from scratch is strong, but Wordpress offers so much in the form of plugins that I'm very interested in your thought process behind it. Can you talk a little bit about that decision either here or in a future Q&A?

Thank you!

Hey Alex, awesome article as always!

I'm wondering about how you gained traffic & customers at the start of your journey.

When you first began, did you do any sort of outbound, or did you just focus on inbound with the blog and making that really great?

Thanks!

Alex - another great article. I completely agree with the list, especially the comments around your most loyal customers finding you through our blog. They were seeking answers, you gave that to them (and then some) and your product solved their problem. This one reason is why content marketing is so important for any business. I also agree fully about your comments on potential customers that are only interested in using your product if incentivized. There are times and places to use discounts or incentives, but typically in the acquisition (versus upsell) is not the best strategy to create loyalty.

One area you didn't mention, that I am curious about your thoughts on, is around loyalty of customers that came to you via referrals from other Groove customers. We have found these to a great source of loyal customers, primarily because their friend is also using our service, etc.

Thanks again for sharing.
