I would add that despite the market being crowded, you are actually writing for your inner circle (customers, friends, local companies) - and they are more likely to see your content than anyone else's. That should be an invigorating reminder to utilize your existing audience.

Hi Alex,

To echo everyone else, great post. Never thought to share simple spreadsheets for my readers...I was overcomplicating things and trying to figure out what to takeaways I could give.

Just became a subscriber after reading this!

Such an informative article, Alex. I really love how assertive and well-argued it is.You have clearly shown how many factors we need to take into consideration in order to make it in the big world as small entrepreneurs. This is what our service is encouraging. Have you ever had the chance to take a look at Giveaway Service? We help brands connect with authors who blog and share content via social networks on http://www.giveawayservice.com.
If you ever find the time to check out our website, we’d love to hear your take on it.

I think the most important reason, that makes Groove content standing out and unique, is it's credibility. Sincere desire to help other entrepreneurs. That's why I appreciate this blog so much.

I'am tired of fake content from "gurus" blog's, that will "change your life". There's so much selling in their words... so much manipulation, instead of inspiration. It's transactional!

We should pay more attention to content that we read. We should be discipline in recognizing when the only goal of author, is to sell to us his new "magic e-book".

"We try and be the best Groove that we can be, and you should embrace your own voice and be the best 'you' you can be." << I love that! It's by far the most fun and most effective way to write. I always love y'all's posts, and among my friends, Groove is in an admirable category of its own in this regard. You guys get a lot of love in our convos. :D

One question about content and SEO: When I have a post that's 2K words and I've got to fit the exact longtail keyword in 10 times for .5%, it becomes challenging to stay 100% conversational in my content's tone. I think I'm pulling it off, but I'd love to learn from you. Do you have a post on this, are you planning on writing one, or do you have any tips for me about how you handle that?

Definitely answered the question on the top of my mind all the time!

However, one of the challenges I have is finding a topic I'm passionate about that will resonate with my audience. I mean in your space, I apologize for the over simplification, you are an entrepreneur writing a story for other entrepreneurs, a journey that you have been on before and are on right now. You have a topic you're genuinely passionate about and have the established credibility for, and as a result your authenticity, expertise, and access is undeniable.

For me though, I am a male entrepreneur with an audience of primarily female employees / volunteers. The topics I brainstorm are hard for me to relate with and to be passionate about, and I feel like even if I could jump in there, there'd be a lack of authenticity.

When choosing a topic, is being super passionate about it very important? I feel like if yes, then my audience would be a much narrower slice than my prime audience. If no, I feel like I'd burn out.

Also, should I even choose a topic if I can't be portrayed as authentic, for example as a male talking about female topics?

Thanks!
