Awesome post Alex. Thanks a lot.

I think it's important to begin with one specific industry and persona to validate the idea. Once it has been tested in a market it's a good opportunity to check other niches.

Groove is in the customer service market that includes ALL industries. Do you recommend starting a business with a "horizontal product" (sales, marketing, customer service) or a "vertical product" (an specific industry)?

Best regards!

I really liked the insight of how you leveraged your customer's perspective to change your product. Amazing that you reached out to all 2k of your customers and asked for a conversation with them.

I think I'd garner similar surprising insights from my own customers.

Hey Alex,

Great post and topic.

I completely understand when you say you have blinders on. Reading this post, I couldn't help but think about how many MORE businesses, customers, etc. I could be reaching out to. And that perhaps I'm limiting myself right now.

I will try to implement some of what you said here. If not for my current site, then for another project I'm working on that.

Thanks for this.

Hey Alex

I'm making some of these mistakes right now, by trying to sell to my own network first, which has a large percentage of startups and tech companies. Until the word is out, I don't think there is another group or sector to go after than those who trust you from your previous relationships. Even this is harder, as we are bringing a new type of product to market.

Will try to adopt some of your techniques, as we need all the help we can get.

Best regards
